It’s built from an Adirondack spruce top with mahogany used for the back, sides, and neck. This tonewood cocktail offers an old-school tone that sits incredibly well in a mix. These days, it’s hard to find cuts of Adirondack spruce that are wide enough for an acoustic guitar soundboard. But for this Legacy Concerto E, Breedlove dug deep into their tonewood vault to make it happen. They paired the solid Adirondack spruce top with mahogany back and sides for a classic tone with plenty of midrange goodness to go around. With its Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and the dreadnought-esque Concerto body shape, the Legacy Concerto E gives you the old-school power and rich midrange you crave.

Sound Optimization is a data-driven process that accounts for the inherent variability in natural tonewoods and ensures every guitar performs to its full potential. So how does it work? First, Breedlove sands each tonewood to a desired weight (most guitar companies sand to a uniform thickness). Once the braces are glued in, the company’s luthiers use soft mallets, microphones, and specialized software to analyze the top and back frequency response. They then voice the braces by hand and constantly re-measure the frequency response to ensure the top and back resonate to pre-determined target frequencies.
