To our ears at AJ’s Music & The Music Man, the Legacy Concert Thinline CE’s combination of cedar and ovangkol produces well-balanced tones with a strong, well-defined midrange. And like every other Made in Bend Breedlove, the Legacy Concert Thinline CE has passed through the proprietary Sound Optimization process. The Legacy Concert Thinline CE is a not-so-radical departure from the well-respected Breedlove Concert body style. It’s noticeably thinner than a standard Concert guitar. Yet, due to the masterful construction by Breedlove’s luthiers, the Concert Thinline CE sounds just like a full-depth acoustic guitar. The body is made from all-solid tonewoods. A red cedar top and ovangkol back and sides deliver a well-rounded tone suitable for fingerstyle, strumming, and slotting into a busy pop mix. Of course, the Legacy Concert Thinline CE wouldn’t bear the Breedlove name if it didn’t offer the company’s signature treble shimmer.

Sound Optimization is a data-driven process that accounts for the inherent variability in natural tonewoods and ensures every guitar performs to its full potential. So how does it work? First, Breedlove sands each tonewood to a desired weight (most guitar companies sand to a uniform thickness). Once the braces are glued in, the company’s luthiers use soft mallets, microphones, and specialized software to analyze the top and back frequency response. They then voice the braces by hand and constantly re-measure the frequency response to ensure the top and back resonate to pre-determined target frequencies.
